Healing Cancer one rep and one step at a time!

by Tommy on August 26, 2016

In January 2014, after feeling sick with nausea, and experiencing back and abdominal pain, and no appetite for 2 months, I was diagnosed with a stage 4 neuroendocrine tumor on my pancreas which had spread to liver. At this time I was told by the doctor that the main tumor on Pancreas was too large, 11 cm x 11cm x 7 cm, and in a bad position to remove surgically. The suggested treatment plan was to use intervenous chemotherapy and a hormone injection to try and shrink the tumor for possible removal at a later date.

As I began the treatment plan, which for the first week was 5 days straight of getting injected with 2 different drugs for a 3 hour period, and then once every 3 weeks for 6 months after that, I was determined and truly believed I could beat this thing. I called the chemo my “super juice” and that each time it was injected in me, I got stronger and the cancer was being defeated ONE STEP AND ONE TREATMENT AT A TIME. And with being a fitness coach I continued to workout through this process as well, and in my mind was visualizing with every rep I was completing that I was sending a healing shock wave through my body to help rid me of this disease. My mantra back then and still is: “I am beating cancer ONE REP, ONE SET, ONE WORKOUT AT A TIME!”

After this 6 month period there was 10 percent shrinkage of the main tumor on pancreas and the liver spots had stayed the same and disease was “stable”. That was a WIN in my book and also for the doctors. And also the most important thing was that I was feeling a lot better, almost normal actually.

During this 6 months, I was also doing research on alternative treatments to cancer as well, as I sensed there has got to be another and maybe even better way to beat this disease. Through this search I found some great resources to include websites and books and incredible stories of people overcoming late stage terminal cancers using combinations of conventional, and/or non-conventional, alternative treatments.

Fast-forward to now, 2 and a half years later, my latest scan showed disease still present on pancreas and spots on liver unchanged and stable. I am feeling and looking as healthy as ever.

Also something to note here is that I haven’t done any chemotherapy since the initial 6 months and I also have been off the hormone injection since March this year. I have been following a more alternative holistic approach to healing by using a combination of methods to include supplements and foods to boost the immune system, acupuncture, meditation and visualization, eating a whole food plant based diet and last but certainly not least following a strict workout regimen which combines strength training using weights, bodyweight training, mobility and flexibility training. NOTE; I am not a licensed doctor or medical practitioner so please if you have been diagnosed with this type of disease or something similar seek professional advice first and then make your decisions of how to proceed after that.

My plan is to continue with this holistic approach to healing, and I believe that the cancer is a symptom of something else that’s going on inside me and once I get to the “root” cause of it, I will be able to completely heal myself from it.

The bottom line and number one take away here is whichever way you decide is the best for you to heal, whether it be a conventional or nonconventional approach, you have to truly believe with every ounce of your being and with no doubts that it will work regardless of what stage you are at and what the doctors may tell you.

Thanks for the comment Jeremy and for your continued support. You were one of my earliest inspirations when I first starting working out at Gray’s Gym bro! So thank you for that! As far as the supplements I take for boosting the immune system the answer to your question is YES! It can definitely benefit the avg person as most of us have some type of dietary deficiencies and that is a main cause of most illnesses. Plus they can act as cancer preventives as well. I take extra Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Fish oil, Glutathione boosters, Chaga mushroom, Dandelion Root, and extra greens to keep my immune system strong so it can do it’s job in helping me heal this disease completely!

You are the most inspirational person in the world. I’m so proud of your accomplishments. When we traveled to Boston to see the specialist. (You myself and your mom) my heart ached because we didn’t get the answers I prayed so hard for. I watched your stature your face and your body language that day … As I felt my heart break and my eyes swell with tears…. I couldn’t help but notice your posture become better and that look in your eye of determination … I asked myself “where does this man get his strength from?” You told me to “dry it up” and stop worrying we will beat this monster somehow, some way ..!!! I questioned your choices and begged you to recinsider not taking additional treatment. You insisted your way of thinking was best for you and asked that I trust and support your choices. I want to tell you today how proud I am of you and how inspirational you are to so many people. Honestly your not the “Average Joe” but rather the “Ultimate Guy” in more ways then you will ever know. To my best friend my daughter Godfather I send all of my strength, positive thoughts and prayers and I want to Thank you for being the most amazing person that I have the honor of knowing. You are an amazing role model to all of us. Love you buddy ✌🏻♥️😊😇🙏

I believe the best way to heal this and any other disease is in whatever path you choose you have to believe with every ounce of your being that you can do it! Love you!

I bumped into Chickie last summer when I was visiting my aunt. I had not seen her in years and she told me your story. I was glad to hear you are taking the bull by the horns and it sounds like your mom is your biggest supporter! Best of luck and continued good health.
